The Special Education Department has an Advisement Office that is ready to help you get accurate information about your program of study. We hope that through informed planning, you can maximize your time at Illinois State and achieve your academic goals.
Students with a minimum of 24 credit hours earned who are declared Special Education majors are served through the Special Education Advisement Office and students with less than 24 hours completed (or classified as a general student) are advised by the Academic Advisement Center.
Download the Spring and Summer 2007 Special Education Undergraduate Advisement newsletter (pdf).
Declared students in the Department of Special Education must schedule an appointment to have their plan of study projected and to review all requirements. This should be completed by the student the first semester of his or her sophomore year or during a transfer student's first semester. It is best to make your appointment early in the semester before advance registration begins so that you are ready when registration opens.
Appointments can be made by signing up in the appointment books in the Cecil J. Lauby Teacher Education Center, DeGarmo, Room 56 or by calling the Center at 438-3541. Please do not call the advisors directly to schedule appointments.
