Teaching Philosophy “I believe teaching is an interactive process through which students are actively engaged in acquiring skills and knowledge. I encourage students to find strengths within themselves and use their strengths to demonstrate their understanding of content. I work hard at bringing a wealth of information to students so that they may conceptualize the “big picture” of education and learn to pragmatically apply their learning to their professional lives. I strive to make learning challenging and enjoyable through modeling effective teaching practices in my classes. I enjoy having open communication with students and engaging in dialogue that creates a myriad of learning experience.” Teaching assignments have included: SED 379 – Assistive Technology for Individuals with Disabilities. This class focuses on exploring the definitions and types of assistive technology, the legal mandates for using assistive technology, options and strategies for using assistive technology to promote effective education for individuals with disabilities, and methods of assessment for matching assistive technology to individuals with disabilities.
