Sandy received her undergraduate degree in Mental Retardation and her Master"s degree in Learning Disabilities/Socially Emotionally Disturbed from Illinois State University. She was a special education teacher in Peoria, District 150 for 28 years. She taught regular division 3rd grade for 6 years before retiring in 2008- for a total of 34 years in the classrooom. Sandy is enjoying her second career- helping prepare future teachers for teaching diverse learners and meeting the many challenges in the classroom.
